I have a 12 year-old long-haired cat who recently had a urinary tract infection. She was treated and is now healed of the UTI. She also had trouble with her left hind leg and the vet put her on Cosequin, once a day, for arthritis. She has now been on that pill for about two weeks. During the past few days I’ve noticed these miniscule scabs on her face — one on her nose and one on either cheek. She does not have fleas and is not around other cats or animals, so no one to fight with. I wouldn’t think they were ringworm as they are so small (about the size of a pencil point) and they are not perfectly round. She does not seem bothered by them at all and is acting as normal as ever. I stopped giving her the Cosequin as of this morning, thinking it may have something to do with that. Any ideas on what it might be?

Some cats get this as they age obviously your cat has aged like mine my cat is close to that age and its not the medicine its just the aging process my cat gets that and its normal dont be afraid it doesnt hurt the cat its just like a normal pimple on a person’s face doesnt hurt you may stay for a while but eventually it will start disappearing any more questions email me at keraallen@yahoo.com

Dont hisetate. Take her to a vet IMEDITALY that COULD be a serious infection of the skin, it could be verry well minor but DONT take any chances. It sounds like she may have a slight mold infection. And it is verry likley that it is only an allergic reacation to the meds that she is on.

My first thought was that it could be an allergic reaction to fleas. But if your kitty is flea-free, could it possibly be an allergic reaction to the Cosequin?

could be allergic reaction to the drug or could be feline acne. your vet will be able to tell you which it is for sure
