My female cat is about 13 years old and has arthritis, especially in her front paws.
Would Aspirin be safe? If not, what is an alternative?

I can feel my cat Smudge’s hip bones through her short fur, but she seems to not be stiff or anything like that. However, my cat’s hip bones are becoming more and more prominently felt whenever I pet her and Smudge is a 14 year old shorthaired cat who’s going to be 15 in June of this year. She doesn’t seem to be in any pain when she’s petted, but I’m concerned that her hip bones becoming more and more easily prominently felt may be a sign of arthritis. Is this reason enough for my concern for my cat? Smudge’s eating okay and also doesn’t seem to be losing any weight lately, but she’s 8 pounds, which is the proper weight for a cat her size, according to the vet.

The cat has arthritis but she does not want to take her to the vet because she feels it would put to much stress on the cat. So any suggestions on over the counter meds or a herbal treatment.

My 14-year-old (small) cat has arthritis and when she is simply walking it bothers her. She can still jump up on stuff but I want her to not hurt. Help!

I took my cat to the Vet today. I thought he was poisoned but his blood test results were normal. The Vet said my cat has arthritis in the hips. My cat can’t even stand on his hind legs. It seems like out of the BLUE our cat can’t function. I’ve never had that happen to me with any of my cats. He has been sleeping and laying around all day and all yesterday. The vet gave him a steriod shot that might help his muscles and help him get back on his feet. I just don’t want our cat to suffer. Right now he seems okay relaxing, chilling out but he can’t even walk by himself. His hind legs seem useless. Is this the end? Do you think we need to put our 8 yr old cat to sleep? Does anyone know? I need some advice. It’s really sad right now to think of loosing our beloved cat!
Okay this is what I don’t understand: if our vet says our cat has arthritis, why can’t he use his back hind legs? Seriously, I mean really. I am so confused right now. I guess I’m in denial right now. If our cat can’t function, how is he going to go the bathroom? I can feed him and give him liquids but at some point you would think he needs to release himself(bathroom break) . Do we need to buy diapers? If it gets to that point is it time to put our cat to sleep. I think it’s wrong to make a cat suffer. Right this moment he’s not suffering but I don’t even want him to feel any pain. I’m so torn. My children and I have been crying on and off all day. I’m just trying to get some answers so I can make the right decision. I need to make the best decision for our cat! He’s our MAN. He’s truly the best cat. As I look into his eyes it’s like he’s telling me “Time is running out”. Is it time to let him go into the light? It’s just so hard and so sad! Thanks for all your advice. It’s helpful.

has anyone had a cat with arthritis? We have a younger cat (9) that has bad arthritis in her hind leg and hip. she refuses to walk on the one side and so now her knee on the good leg has given out. we are getting her surgery for the knee monday, but the vet says there is nothing he can do about the arthritis. is that true – nothing anyone can do for her arthritis?
we have an anti-inflammatory the vet prescribed, but it doesn’t help much. she still just lies in the same spot and pees on herself.
